Discover the ballet that brings to life the timeless story of Love, Sacrifice, Abyss, and Passing.
The Resonances of a Romantic Heroine
Les Grands Ballets and their artistic director Ivan Cavallari are pleased to welcome back choreographer Peter Quanz to revisit a must-have in French literature, a sentimental novel par excellence, La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas fils. In this realistic novel, Alexandre Dumas fils paints the portrait of a heroine with exemplary greatness of soul. Based on a real story of passion, this work has been adapted for theater, opera and cinema since its publication in 1848. Peter Quanz takes the essentials of the novel and designs a ballet in two acts whose story unfolds through four paintings: Love, Sacrifice, Abyss and Death. He thus offers magnificent dramatic and realistic roles to the dancers of the company.
